Fluke AHL Playoff Goal
The hockey world is buzzing this afternoon about the fluke game winning goal in game 3 of the Calder Cup final between the Norfolk Admirals and the Toronto Marlies. Norfolk defenseman Mike Kostka simply dumped the puck in during a line change at the 10:52 mark of overtime, but as Marlies goaltender Ben Scrivens skated behind his net to wait for the puck it took a weird bounce off of the glass and found its way into the vacant net, giving the Admirals a 3-0 lead in the series.
The major issue with the goal is that a Norfolk player was clearly offside, meaning the fluke goal should have never counted. The American Hockey League admitted today that the on-ice officials made an error when ruling it a good goal, but that does not change the fact that Toronto lost the game and now faces elimination. Watch the video below to see the fluke goal and the offside Admirals player.

Of course it never hurts to look forward to next season, and that’s exactly what the San Antonio Rampage are doing. Earlier today Florida’s American Hockey League affiliate announced that the Cats will take on the Dallas Stars in San Antonio, Texas during the 2012-2013 pre-season. This is a great opportunity for the loyal Rampage fans to see their parent club in action.
The game is currently scheduled to take play on September 28th at 7:30 PM. This game could be one of the final pre-season games, depending on the not yet released regular season schedule. Once more information is released about the game we will be sure to post it.
